Experience the World Through Solo Travel
In my opinon, solo travel is one of the most liberating, empowering, courageous, transformative and educational experiences a person can have in their lives.
Sure, travelling solo can be daunting and at times really hard.
It will push you beyond your comfort zone and cause you to confront some of the toughest parts of yourself, including your greatest insecurites.
But I promise you, what you gain in return is worth much more, and 100% worth it ❤️
I can talk from personal experience.
Between 2016-2017, I quit my corporate job to go backpacking for an entire year and it literally change my life. The personal growth that I experienced was incredible. You can read more about my story here.
However, it is also important not to be naive, as there are both pros and cons of travelling solo.
Before you decide what you want to do, it’s important to do your research – starting first with some of our articles below.
It’s also important to understand that “solo travel” doesn’t mean that you have to travel on your own ALL of the time.
Instead, there are may ways to travel solo whilst in the company of others.
For example, you can:
- Join a group tour
- Book a day trip with other travellers
- Volunteer in local projects
- Stay in hostels or even couchsurf to meet other like-minded people
Or if you do want to travel entirely on your own – the choice is yours.
Personally, I like to do a combination of the above.
I like to spend a good chunk of my trip travelling completely on my own (especially if in a safe destination) but also enjoy joining group tours and staying in hostels to meet other travellers throughout my journey.
