Buying the right travel gear is one of the most important steps when planning your first solo trip.

Especially because there’s nothing worse than realising that you’ve arrived completely underprepared or have packed WAY too much after arriving to your travel destination.

Some of the biggest downsides of overpacking (especially when backpacking) is that:

  • Your luggage gets really heavy transforming it into a huge burden
  • You don’t have much room to buy new things
  • You have to pay extra for check-in luggage which can become very costly

But although overpacking has clear disadvantages, so does under-packing. That’s why it’s important to focus on packing only what you’ll truly NEED, rather than the “nice to haves”. I can help you with this.

As an avid solo and adventure traveller, I have definitely gone through many trials and made many errors when buying travel gear.

Whether it’s:

  • Overspending on equipment I didn’t need
  • Buying way too much
  • Getting carried away with all the latest gadgets and tech
  • Being too budget-conscious and buying cheap crappy gear that didn’t last, rather than focusing on value for money
